Rosie's Original Catnip: A Re-Introduction

When I first discovered catnip growing wild in my backyard, I had no idea it would eventually turn into a product I’d love so much. At the time, I was a cat mom to six (yes, six!) and had no clue this little plant popping up in every corner of my yard was actually catnip. Out of curiosity, I shared the discovery on TikTok, along with a few videos of my cats' reactions. The comments were full of people encouraging me to start selling the catnip. At first, I wasn’t sure that was something I wanted to do. But after some thought, I figured why not try?

I harvested a small batch and dried the leaves in my home dehydrator. Once they were finished, I was struck by how beautiful they looked. Instead of grinding the leaves into a powder like most store-bought catnip, I decided to leave them whole. I loved the texture, the structure, the way the flowers and leaves still held their shape. And I noticed that when you crush them right before use, the potency seems to stay stronger for longer. 

I sold a few jars in 2023, but the idea never quite took off the way I hoped. This year, I realized what the product needed was a proper rebrand—something that better reflected the heart behind it.

So, allow me to introduce Rosie’s Original Catnip, the first product in the Terra Cotta Plant Boutique pet collection.

This product is deeply personal to me. It’s named after my cat Rose, who inspired the original TikTok and whose love for catnip is unmatched. She’s a diluted tortoiseshell with one grey back paw and one pink—tiny details that inspired the pink-and-grey paw print design on the new packaging. She’s also my little best friend. It means so much to have her spirit woven into this product.

I handpick the catnip right from my own backyard, rinse and dehydrate it in small batches, and package it with love and intention. Each jar features whole leaves and blossoms, stored in elegant glass packaging that is perfect for gifting.
